Structures and properties of radical cation salts based on chlorinated TTF and TTP donors

Asymmetrically chlorinated organic donor molecules, Cl 2 ET (4) and Cl 2 DTM-TTP (7), are synthesized. Radical cation salts of symmetrically chlorinated ET, Cl 4 ET(2), are also prepared. Substituted chlorine atoms show not only the steric effect, but also change the distribution of the HOMO of the molecule. Synthesis, crystal structures and physical properties of the Cl 4 ET salts, (Cl 4 ET)ClO 4 and (Cl 4 ET)AsF 6 , are presented.
