Idle-slot broadcasting multiple access for mobile satellite communications and positioning system

説明

Idle-slot broadcasting multiple access (IBMA) allows several information and control messages to share the same satellite channel efficiently. The IBMA protocol is particularly suitable for mobile satellite communications and vehicle positioning systems, in which some of the information messages, such as dispatch function, are classified as "periodic" and others, such as signalling, are classified as "random". When a new mobile terminal logins to the system. The Network Management Center reserves subsequent time slots for transmitting periodic messages without contention. Other random messages use the slotted ALOHA protocol to contend with other mobile terminals for an unreserved time slot. Computes simulations suggest that the use of the IBMA protocol can be regarded as a viable solution for advanced mobile satellite communications and positioning systems. >
