Factors that influence casino design: Exploration of knowledge-based ideas for introducing casinos into Japan
説明
Abstract In Japan, the Act on the Promotional Development of Areas for Specified Integrated Resort Facilities (IR bill) was enacted in 2018. Japanese gambling industries based around bicycle racing, horse racing, auto racing, and powerboat racing are already in operation. However, many citizens are currently opposed to the introduction of casinos. Therefore, we explored the kinds of casino design concepts that could be acceptable in modern Japanese society. In this research, data relating to both casino-related knowledge and experience were collected via questionnaires. All data used in this study were obtained from Japanese adults who have knowledge of and experience with gambling. According to our results, "location" was the leading factor in determining the viability of a potential casino. Additionally, we discuss other important aspects of casino design.
