説明

Abstract The steam wells at the Otake geothermal power plants located in the Aso mountains, Japan, are extremely noisy when steam is ejected without mufflers. The frequencies of this noise due to steam ejection range from a low frequency region to a very high frequency region. An ordinary muffler of expansion chamber type is not effective for noise of such high frequencies. This paper presents the results of the measurements of the steam noise and of the effectiveness of a steam muffler specially designed by the authors.
