Description
In our previous study of acoustic neuroma patients who had facial nerve paralysis after tumor resection, we reported that, in contrast to the result in those undergoing no reanimation procedures postoperatively, no apparent correlation was seen between the patients’ self-estimation and the physician’s evaluation of facial movement in those who had undergone hypoglossal-facial nerve anastomosis. In the present study, we have conducted a more systematic investigation about the correlation between these “subjective” and “objective” evaluations. On the basis of our results, we will discuss their clinical implications.
