An online fuzzy adaptive pulse amplitude modulation control for a PMSM drive

Description

The pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) control can adjust a PWM voltage source inverter(VSI)-fed motor's DC-link voltage. A bi-directional buck-boost DC-DC converter is used at the primary side of PWM-VSI. This methodology allows a appropriate control for electrical vehicles (EVs) during motoring and regenerate power under braking operations. This paper is proposed PAM control technique for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on fuzzy control system. The PAM coefficient (K PAM ) is a constant value for a conventional PAM control system. It requires online adjustment to improve the overall performance of a PAM control system. The proposed fuzzy controller based PAM control regulates the K PAM according to the online commanded load voltage. This paper deals with motoring (accelerate and steady state) and braking operations of a PMSM. This paper also reflects efficiency measurement of the system. The proposed method is reduced the distortion of load voltage, DC-link voltage and torque ripple. Consequently, the proposed method is improved the system efficiency as compare with conventional method. Effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by the simulation results.
