The Potential Utility Of Landsat-5 TM Thermal Infrared For Predicting Seasonal Sea Surface Temperature Of Omura Bay, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan
Description
The potential utility of Landsat-5 TM thermal infrared (TIR) for predicting seasonal sea surface temperature (SST) of Omura Bay was analyzed. Empirical models developed using eight sets TIR and truth SST data show that among the total data of autumn, winter and spring, 96%, 100% and 65% of predicted SST were laid in the bias range of -+ 0.5'C, respectively. For all seasons data, 98% of predicted SST were latd in the range of bias t 1°C. This result indicates the potential of Landsat TM TIR for predicting the SST with high degree of accuracy. SST derived using in It er na 1 source c a 1 i b r a t i on me tho d are also presented as a comparison.
