Changes in the heart rate variability and electrogastrogram due to the motion sickness

説明

The effect of a severe and mild motion sickness to the heart rate variability (HRV) and electrogastrogram (EGG) has been examined. A regular sea route from Tokyo to Miyake Island has been chosen to examine the heart rate variability change in a severe sea sickness. A motion base has been used for examining the effect of mild motion sickness to HRV and EGG characteristics. It has been shown that the low frequency power (<0.15 Hz) in the HRV power spectrum significantly increased while the high frequency power remained the same. EGG 0.05 Hz rhythm has been slightly enhanced during mild motion sickness of the degree which doesn't affect HRV characteristics caused by an artificial vibration of the motion base. These findings may be useful in interpreting changes in biosignals during the motion sickness.
