OPTICAL DYNAMIC DISPLACEMENT MEASUREMENT OF SPECIMEN FOR SHAKING TABLE TEST UTILIZING DRONE

<jats:p>In recent years, the use of drones for building inspection has been studied in the architectural field. The effectiveness of utilizing drones for building investigation has been previously reported. Drones are also considered effective for building damage investigation in the event of a disaster. However, there are few examples of actual investigations using drones. If drones can be used to assess the damage to buildings affected by earthquakes, damage investigation could be faster, and efficiency and safety could be improved. In this study, the optical dynamic displacement measurements were obtained for the shaking table test utilizing a drone to verify the effectiveness of building measurement at the time of an earthquake. If the drone was not able to remain stationary in air, there was a difference in the value measured by the drone and that by the displacement meter. When the drone was able to remain stationary in air and the disturbance was minimal, the dynamic displacement of the specimen could be measured well. The blur caused by the movement of the drone needs to be addressed in the future to more accurately measure the dynamic displacements of buildings.</jats:p>
