Application of SAW devices on pulse position modulated spread spectrum communication system

Description

This paper demonstrates a modulation method for a spread spectrum communication system in which a relatively large pulse compression ratio is obtained for a narrow transmission bandwidth through the employment of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices. We discuss the system performance, and propose circuit configurations of the modulator and demodulator. We show a basic experimental result of the demodulation circuit which verifies the feasibility of the system and also show some basic trials for fabricating a SAW-semiconductor co-integrated programmable device used for the SSPPM system.
