Basic Research for Flying Boat Type MAV of Low Aspect-ratio BWB
Description
The objectives of this paper are a basic research to develop and design new concepts search and rescue MAV used to natural disaster both at earthquake and tsunami. The core technology of the air-sea search and rescue work system is consisted flying boat type of UAV of low aspect ratio BWB. It has extremely small aspect ratio of less than one and side bodies used to floaters. Over a wider area of great disaster, there are no specialists to operate and no place to prepare for flying. The UAV can search automatically, easy to operate and handle it by a child. The UAV have two missions. First is the search and rescue, and the second is the receptor to cover longer distances of radio signal. Seven types of surface model are tested to find the optimum configuration. U-Shaped and H-shaped side bodies models are tested and resulting best airframe configuration for XSTOL performances are obtained.
