Light driven SMA actuator using optical waveguide made of past type organic material
Description
The purpose of this study is to develop a light-driven SMA actuator, which has optical waveguide. The SMA actuator has many features such as a simple structure, dynamic displacement value and large generative force. Driven by the light, SMA actuator can reduce the risks of the electrical leak and be applied to robot hands operated in special environment, such as in a water or a gas pipes. In this research, the light driven SMA actuator has been fabricated with an optical adhesive. The optical adhesive consists of organic materials, epoxy and acrylic. The adhesive has a high light permeability. Additionally, the adhesive can be easily deposited as thin film because it has paste form and is an ultraviolet curable adhesive. By using the material, the light driven SMA actuator with an optical waveguide has been fabricated. The SMA is heated effectively and this actuator has a simple structure.
