Description

Abstract Reassortant influenza A(H1N2) viruses isolated in the world during 2001 to 2002 were genetically divided into two groups. Hemagglutinin (HA) genes of Yokohama A(H1N2) strains belonged to the same group as Asia or USA strains, while NA genes belonged to the same group as Middle East or Europe strains. The phylogenic analysis of the NA, PB2, PB1, PA, NP, and M genes indicated that the Yokohama A(H1N2) strains were close to 1999/2000 A(H3) strains.
