A Mathematical Model Of Reflectance And Transmittance Of Plant Leaves As A Function Of Chlorophyll Pigment Content
Description
In this paper, we propose a mathematical model of reflectance and transmittance of plant leaves as a function of their chlorophyll pigment content. It is based on the Kubelka-Munk theory, and involves the modeling of multiple-reflect ion of l ight in a leaf which is assumed to he composed of a pile of four layers. It also includes the assumption that the scatt, ering coefficient and the absorption coeff i cient of Kubelka-Munk theory can be expressed as a linear function of pigment, content of a plant l eaf. Spectral reflectance and transmittance caIculat.ed with this model showed very good agreement with measured values. Furthermore. several unmeasureable constants necessary in the calculation were determined by a least squares met, hod. We also confirm that these results were consistent. wibh several well-known facts in the botanical field.
