Magnetic Field Effects on the Morphology of Bi-Mn System

Description

In-field heat treatment for Bi-Mn alloys has been performed so far [1], [2]. The ferromagnetic MnBi grain elongated and aligned along the magnetic field direction in the Bi-rich matrix [1]. On the other hand, the magnetic orientation of the reacted MnBi phase is difficult during the solid-phase reaction. Thus, combining the liquid- and solid-phases reactions under magnetic fields will be a new method to control the morphology of the magnetic materials.
