Supersonic Free Flight Experiments Using a Square-Bore Ballistic Range
説明
A near field pressure distribution measurement system was developed by using the square bore ballistic range. The demonstration was conducted using two models. One has conical nose and tail. Another has a cross section that is proportional to the 3/2-th power of the distance from the edges. As for the shock wave originated from the leading edge, the cone model generated the N-type shape pressure signature. On the other hand, the 3/2-th power model generated the plateau shape pressure signature, and the peak pressure was reduced by 29 % compared to the cone model. Although the pressure signature modulation due to the body shape was observed for the shock wave from the leading edge, for the trailing edge shock, real flow patterns such as separation and wake is dominant over the body shape in the overpressure signature.
