GUI design for tower and terminal ATC co-operation

Description

The authors are currently developing an integrated air traffic control (ATC) simulation system to simulate the operation of future ATC systems in which all air traffic controllers and pilots of aircraft will communicate with each other by means of data link communication systems. In order to realize effective ATC operation in such an environment it is very important to share ATC information among controllers. AsophisticatedATC information display with a graphical user interface (GUI) is necessary to increase the visual understanding of controllers and to reduce their workload. It will be necessary to exchange information between co-operating controllers, for example between terminal airspace and airport tower controllers.
