Description

Abstract A cladistic analysis of 23 species of Sinopodisma Chang from China was undertaken based on 19 morphological characters of the adult with Tonkinacris sinensis Chang as the outgroup. The subdivision of the genus and the phylogenetic relationships were based both on the data obtained in the cladistic analysis and the distribution of species. Sinopodisma can be divided into four groups. The Yingde Group includes six species distributed from the western part of Hunan Province to a broad area of the connected areas of Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong. The Pieli Group includes 11 species distributed in the area covering the North Yungui Plateau, the Qingling Mountains, the Dabie Shan Mountain, the Middle and lower reaches plain of Changjiang River, the covering angnan upland and Wuyi Mountains. The Lofaoshan Group includes only one species distributed in the same area as the Yingde Group. The Taiwan Group includes five species distributed in Taiwan. Thus, the four phylogenetic groups are (...
