Application of wave-front signal processing to 3D modeling

説明

A new computer graphics (CG) modeling technique is proposed where wave-fronts of propagating waves are visualized and a constructive solid modeling (CSM) technique is used to construct 3D models with wave-fronts. A CG technique that is a metaball technique, similar to the proposed one in this paper, has already been reported, using surfaces of equi-potential, while the incoherent wave-fronts are processed in the proposed method. In the metaball method, smoothly changing potential surfaces are displayed, whereas independent surfaces of wave-fronts are displayed in the case of incoherent wave propagation, resulting in the CSM modeling with wave-fronts. Three-dimensional models are designed using the proposed method.
