<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>A semi‐infinite simple cubic spin‐½ Ising ferromagnet with surface amorphization is investigated by extending the mean‐field theory of amorphous bulk ferromagnets. The magnetic properties of the surface are examined as a function of averaged surface exchange 〈<jats:italic>J</jats:italic><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="graphic/tex2gif-stack-1.gif" xlink:title="urn:x-wiley:03701972:media:PSSB2221500133:tex2gif-stack-1" />〉<jats:sub><jats:italic>r</jats:italic></jats:sub> = <jats:italic>J</jats:italic>(1 + Δ) and fluctuation of the surface exchange interaction. Some characteristic behaviours of the system are found.</jats:p>
