<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Tellurium‐metal exchange reaction of <jats:italic>n</jats:italic>‐butyl 2‐pyridinyl telluride derivatives with <jats:italic>n</jats:italic>‐butyllithium or dilithium dimethylcyanocuprate proceeded smoothly to give the corresponding 2‐pyridinylmetal derivatives, which are important intermediates for functionalization of pyridines.</jats:p>
