<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The effects of the molecular weight and composition on the thermal stability of the styrene‐acrylonitrile copolymer were investigated by the thermogravimetric analysis in an atmosphere of nitrogen over the temperature range from 250 to 450°C. It was found that the molecular weight has little effect on the thermogravimetric analysis curve and that the residue of decomposition increases with the content of acrylonitrile in the copolymer.</jats:p>
