説明
1. 1. A sphincter-like musculature had been found around the oviduct of the ayu and the goldfish. 2. 2. Functions of the musculature were examined by checking egg leakage from the ovipore as an indicator of sphincter relaxation. 3. 3. Anesthetization with tricaine methanesulfonate caused egg leakage in ovulated female fish of both the species, whereas non-anesthetized fish did not leak eggs. 4. 4. Spinal cord transection at the level rostral to the 12th vertebra was found to cause egg leakage even in non-anesthetized goldfish. 5. 5. It can be suggested that the sphincter-like musculature functions as a genital sphincter and is innervated by the spinal nerves. At the moment of spawning, the sphincter may temporarily relax due to lowered excitatory tonus from the higher centers toward spinal motor neurons innervating the sphincter.
