A derivation of relationships between two-band vegetation indices from multiple sensors
Description
Relating two spectral vegetation indices (VI) is a fundamental issue for decades in the satellite remote sensing community. Recently, this issue has attracted much attention from varieties of environmental science communities in the context of data continuity by successive satellite sensors which may affect the accuracy of global circulation models. This work introduces a derivation of relationships between two VI's. The derived expression was numerically demonstrated by applying to the case of the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) observed at different pairs of wavelengths. The result indicates a direction toward NDVI translations among past, current and future sensors.
