Nonuniform carbide grain growth during high-temperature compressive deformation in WC-13wt%Co
Search this article
Description
It has been reported that WC-13wt%Co with a carbide grain size of 1.3~tm is highly deformable by compression at temperatures 1100 1250°C, which are just below the melting temperature of binder and are higher than the service temperature of this material[I,2]. The plastic strain more than 100% is obtained at strain rates below about 2.0 x 10 -3 s -1 at 1200°C. The deformability of this material may be available for the future development of new forming processes[2]. This paper aims to report the unique nature of carbide grain growth during high-temperature deformation in WC-13wt%Co.
