<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Polysulfide having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.66 was prepared in 93% yield by the tri<jats:italic>n</jats:italic>‐butylamine catalyzed reaction of 1,4‐bis(1,2‐epoxypropoxy)benzene with tetramethylene dimercaptan in N,N‐dimethylformamide at 100°C for 1 hr. Polysulfone was obtained by the oxidation of polysulfide with hydrogen peroxide in a mixture of formic acid and <jats:italic>p</jats:italic>‐dioxane.</jats:p>
