説明
BNL-RHIC. We present a measurement of the cross section and transverse single-spin asymmetry ASYM for ETA mesons at forward pseudorapidity (3.0 < ABS(ETARAP) < 3.8). The data used in this analysis is from P(UP) P collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV during the 2008 data taking period at RHIC. A total integrated luminosity of 6.65 pb^{-1} was sampled for these results. The invariant cross section of ETA mesons as a function of transverse momentum, PT, is presented. The asymmetry of the peak region, ASYM(PEAK), and the asymmetry of the background regions, ASYM(BG), measured as functions of XF from a high-PT triggered (the 4X4B triggered) dataset are presented. The asymmetries ASYM have been measured as a function of Feynman-x, XF, in the range 0.2 < ABS(XF) < 0.7 as well as a function of transverse momentum in the range 1.0 < PT < 4.5 GeV. The asymmetry averaged over positive XF is MEAN(ASYM) = 0.061 +- 0.014.
ASYM for ETA mesons measured as a function of PT for ABS(XF) > 0.2. Uncertainties listed are those due to the statistics, the PT uncorrelated uncertainties due to extracting ASYM, and the correlated relative luminosity uncertainty.
