Description

Permanent magnet motors are widely used in industry or automotive applications etc., and it is often required to be miniaturized and to reduce the cogging torque, in order to improve the positioning accuracy or to reduce the noise and vibrations. Due to the high magnetic flux density design requested from the demand for miniaturization and high power density in recent years, cogging torque having amplitude and pulsation number components different from the design occurs in a motor actually manufactured. The cogging torque of permanent magnet motor occurs by the interaction between the iron core of the stator and the permanent magnet of the rotor. Therefore, in order to reduce the cogging torque, it is necessary to accurately comprehend magnetic characteristics considering the manufacturing process of the iron core of the stator such as stamping and magnetic anisotropy of the core. Furthermore, the cogging torque occurs also by the manufacturing variation of parts such as permanent magnets. Hence, it is necessary to minimize the tolerance range of the part to reduce the cogging torque. However, minimizing the part tolerance leads to an increase in the production cost of the parts, so it is necessary to quantify the occurrence probability of the cogging torque and relax the component tolerance as much as possible in consideration of the target cogging torque specification. In this thesis, in order to reduce the cogging torque of the permanent magnet motor, we develop the cogging torque analysis of the permanent magnet motor considering the manufacturing process of magnetic core and manufacturing variation.
