代議制民主主義のガバナンスの国際比較研究

シカゴ大学及びソウル大学と国際共同研究を行い、日本の全市・特別区の首長・議長・財政課長対象にFAUI調査を実施し高い回収率を得て、米国や韓国との国際比較だけなく、地方分権一括法がもたらした政治文化の変容を明らかにした。また、当初計画を超えてNPC首長が市民のWell-Beingにもたらす効果を実証的に明らかにした。 さらに、当初計画を超えて地域文化特性に関する全国市民意識調査を実施し、米国等の研究者による国際研究グループに参加して自治体の人口移動に与える地域文化特性の計量分析を行なった。その結果、研究代表者及び研究分担者全員が国際学術誌に数多くの査読付論文を掲載する成果を挙げた。 In collaboration with professors from the University of Chicago and the Seoul National University, we conducted the FAUI survey as planned. The survey targeted mayors, councilors, and finance directors of all cities and special wards in Japan and obtained a high response rate. Based on the FAUI data, we conducted multivariate analysis for comparative studies with the United States and South Korea. We also compared it with similar survey results before to see how the political culture of Japanese local government heads has changed because of the act. We empirically demonstrated the effect of NPC mayors' types, which is one of the outcomes of the FAUI survey, on citizens' well-being. Beyond the initial plan, we also conducted a survey targeting citizens nationwide to see the attitudes of regional cultural characteristics. In collaboration with an international research group, we carried out a quantitative analysis of regional cultural characteristics related to population movements.
