Research Abstract
This study is legal research on the treatment of personal information and privacy in the process of commercialization of automated (self-driving) automobiles. With the advent of Internet connectivity, automobiles may be connected to social networking services, and the handling of personal information and privacy has become more complex. The results of this research include the following: international standards for automated driving do not necessarily clarify the handling of personal information of owners, managers, drivers, and passengers; the legal position of personal information of passengers in cabs and buses is unclear; and laws and regulations regarding the handling of personal information after the death of stakeholders in automated driving vehicles are unclear. The study was able to clarify that the laws and regulations regarding the handling of personal information of the stakeholders of automated vehicles are unclear and require legal reform.
