The issue of fat intake that is said to be a big cause of lifestyle-related diseases in children and the recommended fat intake to be served in school lunches for improved health were studied. The fact was confirmed that children suffering from lifestyle-related diseases are on the increase and that a rather high percentage of children have an excessive fat intake. The ratio of fat-derived energy was also proved to be high in many school lunch services. In consideration of the great influence of school lunch services on the health of children, the target ratio indication of fat-derived energy should be lowered to 25%-30%, or to 25%. It is necessary that the menu is made out to target toward 25% for the ratio of fat-derived energy.
