Clinical participatory practicum experience, involving direct and indirect contact with clients and other related persons, is considered to be experiences corresponding to the evaluation items on techniques and skills in the “Counseling Assistance Field Practicum Evaluation Form” of the Japan Social Welfare Training School Association Hokkaido Block/Hokkaido Block Social Welfare Training Research Council (hereinafter referred to as Hokkaido Block). A student survey was conducted on 459 students from University A who completed their counseling assistance training in the 2014-2022 academic year. According to the results of this study, most students in the social work program engaged in clinical participatory practicum experience, with the most common item being collaboration with other professionals. Active experience (implementation/trial), combining direct engagement with trial roleplay in which direct involvement is assumed, were experienced by 76.3% of the students, although the number of experience items was limited, and the most common item was interviewing, 63.4%. Furthermore, it was found that the percentage of active experiences of interviews was higher during the coronavirus pandemic period (2020-2022) than before.
