Abstract
This paper looks at the case of Michiko Ryo’s “Picture Book and Poetry Class,” which was put into practice as an element of corrective education, in terms of “interactive learning.” This study seeks to connect ideas obtained from practice in corrective education to school education and presents perspectives for examining the “interactive learning” that is required in school education. It examines the “power of the place” and the “power of the event” in a “Picture Book and Poetry Class” in terms of the method of the interaction (how students learn) and the “power of poetry” in terms of the content of the interaction (what students learn). Analysis demonstrates that these dynamics support the creation of a “safe, secure classroom” that recognizes the “existence of people with different opinions,” which is a requirement of interactive learning, and creates relationships that enable interaction. Moreover, this study clarifies the importance of using “only things to which you can relate” as subject matter for interactive learning.
