<jats:p>(<jats:italic>E</jats:italic>,<jats:italic>E</jats:italic>)-<jats:italic>m</jats:italic>-bisazobenzenes show photoliquefaction to liquid <jats:italic>Z</jats:italic>-bisazobenzenes, which reveal exothermicity due to <jats:italic>Z</jats:italic>-to-<jats:italic>E</jats:italic> isomerization and liquid-to-solid phase changes, with a high gravimetric heat storage capacity of up to 392 J g<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup>.</jats:p>
