In order to investigate the tumor affinity radioisotopes, iron (Fe-59), cobalt (Co-58), ruthenium (Ru-103), Palladium (Pd-103), Osmium (Os-185+191) and iridium (Ir-192) -the elements of group VIII in the periodic table-were examined, using the rats which were subcutaneousl y transplanted with Yoshida sarcoma. Six preparations, 59Fe-chloride, 58Co-chloride, 103Ru-chloride, 103Pd-chloride, 185+191Os-hexachlorosmic acid and 103Ir-hexachloriridic acid were injected intravenously to each group of tumor bearing rats. These rats were sacrificed at various periods after injection of each preparation: 3 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours in all preparations but 59Fe-chloride, 30 minutes, 3 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours in 59Fe-chloride. The radioactivities of the tumor, blood, muscle, liver, kidney and spleen were measured by a well-type scintillation counter, and retention values (in every tissue including the tumor were calculated in percent of administered dose per g-tissue weight) .
185+191Os-hexachlorosmic acid had considerably strong affinity for the malignant tumor. 59Fe-chloride, 58Co-chloride, 103Ru-chloride, 103Pd-chloride and 192Ir-hexachloriridic acid did not have any affinity for malignant tumor. But 59Fe-chloride had very strong affinity for blood-corpuscles.
103Pd-chloride had fairly strong affinity for the kidney and liver, 58Co-chloride had fairly affinity for the liver, 103Ru-chloride, 185+191Os-hexachlorosmic acid and 192Ir-hexa-chloriridic acid had fairly strong affinity for the kidney.
