Today, leading global companies are frantically trying to find a "gold mine" from a vast amount of data generated every day. In Japan, terms like "big data" and "data scientist" have been widely used for the past several years, but it is hard to say they are beyond the bounds of buzzword. That's because only in limited cases is data leveraged to rebuild a business model with an eye to the future of digitized society. In this article, the writer will introduce key points of data utilization in digitized society, based on his broad experience of working on various data analysis projects both in Japan and US, while citing some advanced case studies.
