Description

We report a rare case of squamous cell carcinoma developing from chronic perianal pyoderma (CPP) on the left buttock of a 60-year-old man. He noticed an abscess in his twenties and a nodule on his buttock in his forties. He was admitted to our hospital with some tumors enlarging on the left buttock. Histological examinations revealed well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in CPP. Wide local excision of the CPP, including these tumors, was performed ; however, an artificial anus was not constructed because he refused it. The defect was covered with a split-thickness skin graft. He received chemo- radiation therapy after operation. However, he was diagnosed with external iliac lymph node metastasis. Therefore, we recommend careful follow-up of patients affected by CPP and the CPP would have been treated with wide excision before the development of SCC.[Skin Cancer (Japan) 2014 ; 29 : 18-23]
