Abstract

The Objective of this paper is to develop a 'Instruction-Learning Model based on constructivism for children's program at the public library' and to measure empirically its usefulness at the public library. For this purpose I try to apply practically its model in ChildrenÅfs Reading Activity Program in Korean Public Library and observe the effect to children. The constructivism model, designed on this study, consists of the instructor factor, the learning environment factor, and the learner factor. Within the framework of the suggested model, I have done an empirical study by the observation method. 25 children have participated on this study over 4 months during September to December in 2004. As the results, I found that the efforts of instructor and learning environment based on the constructivism model have children motivate to get the reflective thought, to articulate their knowledge, reasoning, and to do exploration in the process of problem solving.
