Abstract

We developed a simple and convenient method for detecting recombinant DNAs providing resistance against 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) inhibition by glyphosate herbicide in soybeans, soybean leaves and tofu. The modified method using CTAB buffer efficiently extracted DNAs. Measurement of the extracted DNAs at 260/230 and 260/280 nm indicated that they were pure enough for PCR amplification. Agarose gel electrophoresis of the PCR amplified products resolved a band at 818 bp for the lectin gene and 513 bp for the introduced gene. The results suggested that our method effectively detects recombinant DNAs in soybeans and soybean products.
