Abstract

This research aims to enable students to solve problems of welfare for themselves in Home Economics classes. Action-oriented learning strategies introduced into the class were community practice, label-talk, KJ method. It is required for those activities to reach each expected standard. So the method of research analyzed the evolution of learner's thinking during action-oriented learning strategies. The results were as follows. 1) Meeting the mentally handicapped gave the students an opportunity to understand the mentally handicapped. 2) When they considered problems of welfare, it was useful to imagine themselves to be disabled. 3) Label-talk was useful for self-disclosure. Creative experience through KJ method (AB type) was useful for self-change, and effective in supporting critical thinking.
