Description
R. A. Pascal and co-workers reported that 9,10,11,20,21,22-hexaphenyltetrabenzo[a,c,l,n]pentacene has twisted p-conjugated system. We synthesized tetrabenzopentacene derivatives, and observed the NMR spectra of their carbocations. The results show the delocalization of their positive charge through twisted p-conjugated system. We also investigated their electronic structures by the DFT methods.
