Description

The design works of Nagashima Dam has been conducted for a period of eleven years by a single group of civil engineering designers with the cooperation of seven Director-General of the Branch Work Office, the Director-General of the Management Office, several tens of members of the Work Office, and members of the Building Department of the Chubu Regional Development Bureau, the municipal government of Honkawane-cho, Shizuoka Prefecture, consulting companies, and construction companies. The dam body and its ancillary facilities, including Shibuki Bridge, Minami Alps Sesso Ohtsuri-bashi Bridge, and Nagashima Dam Fureaikan, were designed and constructed as a whole. Based on the motif of strength, dignity, and friendliness, they were designed using common materials, colors, shapes, and organized functions, and considering the aging and maintenace in 50 and 100 years. Ostentaion was eliminated, and the structural quality and performances were ensured. Natural stones, stainless steel, and aluminum were actively used, and the facilities and sign borads were painted in common theme colors.
