Abstract

The effect of the non-dialyzable extract of fresh spinach leaves on the induction of chromosomal aberrations by some carcinogens was examined in a cultured Chinese hamster lung cell line (CHL). The non-dialyzable fraction was found to suppress the induction of chromosomal aberrations such as chromatid exchanges and chromatid breaks by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine, hydrogen peroxide and mitomycin C.
