Description
As one of countermeasures for traffic congestion in sags, “Moving Light Guide System” has been established for the purpose of preventing speed reduction and early recovery of traffic congestion. With regard to this system, there are still few studies on luminescent factors that increase the effect of increasing the traffic flow rate in congestion. Therefore, in order to obtain knowledge concerning the factor of light emission affecting the headway of the following vehicle, using a driving simulator, we conducted a comparative operation test by changing the presence / absence of a light emitter, the shape of a light emitter and luminance of a light emitter. Then, we analyzed the factors that are thought to affect the change of headway during acceleration behavior. As a result, it was found that the Moving Light Guide System has an obvious effect of increasing the traffic flow rate. In particular, it was suggested that the shape change of the light emitter is likely to influence shortening of headway of following vehicle.
