Abstract

For cultivating problem-solving competency in daily life, two methods for setting a goal appropriately and achieving the goal including hypothesis verification should be acquired. In order for children to acquire the above two methods, the development of an effective teaching and learning material is indispensable. This research proposes a method for setting a goal appropriately. The problem-solving examples are analyzed and the analysis result shows that the method consists of three levels. Three levels are helpful not only for a modification of a problem setup or goal setting but also for an assessment index. Therefore, the proposed method with three levels is useful as a guideline when developing a teaching and learning material.
