Abstract

The scapegoating was typical kinds of collective attribution of causes and responsibility and blaming a certain targets when people perceive that negative events occurred in past or will occur in the future. The targets of scapegoating may be selected on the basis of ambiguous or no causal relationship to the negative event. Here I proposed a total scapegoating model and discussed characteristics of mass media publicity. And finally, a scapegoat transition model (the ripple widening model) was presented.
