Description

LCA is an effective analysis method for visualizing the greenhouse gas emissions of products and services provided by businesses in a society aiming for decarbonization, and for discovering issues that are often overlooked when assuming their social implementation. In the case of Oki Town’s human waste and food waste treatment bio gasification is viewed from the perspective of energy balance, the bio gasification was negative. However, LCA showed that the biogas plant process emitted one-tenth as much GHG as the incineration process, which was less GHG. In addition, the economic evaluation showed that the biogas plant process halved the cost of the biogas plant process. The scope of evaluation used in the economic evaluation was the same as in the LCA. In this study, the biogas plant was superior in both the greenhouse gas assessment and the economic evaluation.
