Description

We have measured the particle size distribution (PSD) of fine alumina particle slurries at various concentrations by ultrasonic attenuation spectroscopy method in order to examine the effectiveness of the concentration range of the particle and particle-particle interaction in highly concentrated slurries.<br>It was found that ultrasonic attenuation spectroscopy can estimate the primary particle size at the concentration of 1∼20 vol% and suggest the development of particle-particle interaction at 30∼40 vol%. Those results showed that this method can be applicable to the evaluation of the primary particle size of 1∼20 vol% slurries and the aggregate particle size of 30∼40 vol% slurries arose by particle-particle interaction for practical process control.
