<p>This paper is intended to be discussed about the Utilization of lending records in “Reading Passbook Service” from views of the protection of personal information, or intellectual freedom in the library.</p><p>The reading passbook service can be evaluated as a way to resolve the conflict with the library principle and the user’s needs that want to possess the lending records, but it seems that the outcome of the discussion on the utilization of lending record is not harnessed.</p><p>As a result of the investigations, the analysis of the listed items of the passbook and some resources, interview, the following points were revealed.</p><p>I. the shortening of the holding period of lending records on the passbook server</p><p>II. implementation of selective bookkeeping function</p><p>III. the specification of the holding period and management responsibility for the personal information on the passbook</p><p>IV. re-examination of the need for price column</p>
