Description

The city planning ordinances enforced in Taiwan and Korea under Japanese rule have been explained as more advanced statute than those of the Japanese mainland. This study examined the merits of the ordinances. The unification of building and city planning in the ordinances had aimed for speeding up the deliberation process. The ordinances had shown constant advance mainly on land readjustment. However, in perspective it had been dissolution of the defect in the laws of mainland. Each laws and ordinances had been improved depending on the solicitation of the times as a series of laws and ordinances group. The colonial ordinances had not been always advanced. Therefore, colonial ordinances and the laws of mainland were not in simple binary opposition.
